Uttar Pradesh is known for its rich culture and tradition. Uttar Pradesh is a state in India. Abbreviated as UP, it is the most popular state in the republic of India as well as the most country subdivision in the world. The densely populated state, located in the northern region of the Indian sub continent, has over 200 million inhabitants. It was created on 1 April 1937 as the united province during British rule, and was renamed Uttar Pradesh in 1950.The state is divided into 18 divisions and 75 districts with the capital being Lucknow. The main ethnic people is the hindavi people, forming the demographic plurality on November 2000, a new state, Uttarkhand, was carved out from the state’s Himalayan region. The two major rivers of the state, the Ganges and Yamuna, join at Allahabad and then flow as the Ganges further East. Hindi is the most widely used spoken language and is also the official language of the state.
The state is bordered by Rajasthan to the west, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi to the Northwest, Uttarkhand and Nepal to the North, Bihar to the East, Madhya Pradesh to the south and touches the states of Jharkhand and chhattisgarh to the South East. It covers 243290 square kilometres (93933 sq.m) equal to 7.33% of the total area of India, and is fourth larger Indian state by area. It is a fourth larger state by economy with an estimated gross state domestic product of 89 lakh crore. Agriculture and service Industries are the largest parts of the state’s economy. The service sector comprises travel and tourism, hotel Industry, Real Estate, Insurance and Financial consultancies. President’s rule has been imposed in Uttar Pradesh ten time since 1968, for different reasons and for a total 1700 days. Mughlai cuisine, Kumauni cuisine is famous not only in India
but also many places abroad.

Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has several beautiful historical
monuments such as Bara Imambora complex of the Oudh-period British resident’s
quarters, which are being restored.
